Building your page

Widget reference

A widget is one piece on your page. This chapter lists all of them, tab by tab, with their settings, their values, their defaults and their size presets. It ends with the three things nobody tells you: what a visitor can actually touch, the empty states you can publish by accident, and the invented content a widget ships with if you never open it.

How the catalog is organised

Widgets are added from a popup called Add a widget. You open it by tapping an empty cell on the editor canvas — there is no plus button in the toolbar. The editor covers the canvas gestures; this chapter covers what is inside the popup.

  1. Tap an empty cell. The widget lands at that cell if it fits.
  2. Optionally type in Search widgets…. It matches a widget's name, its one-line description and its internal type name. On a phone the field does not autofocus, so the keyboard never covers the grid.
  3. Optionally change the order with the Sort widgets button.
  4. Pick a category tab.
  5. Tap a tile. The widget is added and the popup closes.

The tabs

  • All — 97 tiles: every widget the popup offers, plus one shortcut tile per social platform.
  • Profile — 11 widgets about you.
  • Social — 10 app-icon shortcuts that add a Social Link already set to that platform.
  • Content — 14 widgets that hold your words, photos, video and links.
  • Interactive — 8 widgets a visitor can use.
  • Shop — 6 widgets about money and services.
  • Personality — 3 widgets about who you are.
  • Layout — 6 widgets that shape the page rather than fill it.
  • Explore — 12 toys, games and page decoration.
  • Store — free widgets other creators published to the marketplace.

Under the grid, a progress bar counts your collection: You've used so many widget types out of 64. That 64 counts every widget type the app knows about, including the three the popup never offers — Pocket Pet, custom widgets, and the original Profile (replaced by Portrait and Bio, and still shown on pages that already use it). The All tab's 97 tiles are a different count: it drops those three and gives each social platform its own shortcut.

Watch out

The tabs above list which widgets are in each tab, not the order you will see them. Every tab is re-sorted before it draws. With the default sort, Name, everything is alphabetical.

Sort and badges

  • Name — A to Z. The default.
  • Size — biggest default footprint first.
  • Recently used — what you added most recently, remembered in this browser only, up to sixteen entries. It does not follow you to another device.

Each tile carries a size badge in its top-right corner, like 2×2. A small purple dot in the top-left, tooltip Not on your page yet, marks a type this page does not have.

Watch out

The badge is the widget's default footprint. The widget is placed at its compact size, which for several widgets is smaller. Add it, then resize it.

The Store tab

The Store tab lists widgets other people built and published, filtered to the free ones. It shows Loading… while it fetches. Tap a card to install it; you get Widget added. Paid widgets are bought from the Store tab of the app itself — see The marketplace.

Note

Two widgets are not in this popup. Pocket Pet was replaced by Pet Buddy and only still exists on pages that already have one. Custom widgets arrive from the Store tab or a marketplace install, never from the catalog.

The Edit Widget sheet

Every widget is configured in the same place. Tap a widget on the canvas to select it, then tap the pencil at its top-right corner, tooltip Edit widget. A half-height card titled Edit Widget slides up from the bottom.

Close it with the close button, the Escape key, your browser's back gesture, or by swiping the header strip downwards.

What is in every sheet, top to bottom

  • The header — the widget's icon, its name, and a trash button that deletes it.
  • Size — three chips: compact, medium, large.
  • Go to link — appears only when the widget holds a real web address. Opens it in a new tab.
  • Rewrite — free AI rewording, on widgets that hold text you wrote.
  • Publish this widget — lists this one widget in the marketplace. Élégante only.
  • The widget's own settings — the bulk of this chapter.
  • Effects and Shape mask — the look of the tile itself.

Watch out

The name in the header is the widget's internal name, not the friendly one from the catalog. A Before / After widget's sheet says Beforeafter, a Button group says Buttongroup, and 3 Things says Threethings. You are in the right place.

Size

The three chips each show their exact footprint underneath, like 2×1. One tap applies it. Widgets whose presets are all the same span show fewer chips — Spacer and custom widgets show none at all, because there is only one size to pick.

  • A widget is added at its compact span.
  • You cannot shrink it below compact, by chip or by drag. That floor is the smallest size at which its own content is still readable.
  • A widget has to fit in both the phone and the desktop canvas. If either is full, it is not added.
  • Phone and desktop remember separate positions and sizes for the same widget.

Effects and Shape mask

Effects is a grid of seven: None, Shadow, 3D Depth, Glow, Outline, Glass, Inset. Three of them add a sub-control — a colour, a direction, an intensity or a border width.

Shape mask clips the whole tile to a shape: None, Blob, Pebble, Hexagon, Star, Arch, Squircle. It needs a paid plan Élégante. Style and effects goes through both in detail.

Heads up

On a free plan, picking a mask shows Paid feature / Shape masks need a paid plan. The server checks again when you save and drops the mask, so there is no way to sneak one out.

Rewrite and Assist

Rewrite is a pill near the top of the sheet. Tap it, type what you want changed — the placeholder suggests make it shorter — and press Enter or tap Go. It rewords every text field in that widget at once. It costs no credits, and undo puts the old wording back.

Eight individual fields also carry a small Assist pill, which rewrites just that field and does cost credits: Title and Bio on Profile, Description (optional) on Product, Content on Text, Quote on Quote, Subtitle (optional) on Section header, Text (separate items with •) on Marquee, and Subtext (optional) on Subscribe. No other field has one. Two of the eight also offer a Translate… mode — Content on Text and Text (separate items with •) on Marquee. AI assists and credits covers costs, caps and modes.

Publish this widget

This lists the selected widget in the marketplace for other people to install. The pill only appears on a paid plan Élégante.

  1. Tap Publish this widget. A dialog opens: List it in the marketplace for others to install..
  2. Fill in the form. The title starts as My widget and the confirm button stays disabled while it is blank.
  3. Confirm. The button reads Save draft when the listing is a draft and Publish otherwise.

You get Widget published or Saved as a draft listing. Selling is covered in Selling and payouts.

The shared field types

  • Colour pickers — a swatch that opens a picker with a hex box. Leaving one unset means "use the widget's own default", and a small ✕ next to the swatch clears it.
  • Image fields — either a picker with a placeholder image, an Upload your own image button and Choose from Files; or a single Insert image / Replace image button. Uploaded photos go through the crop and filter editor first, except GIFs, which skip it so the animation survives.
  • The media picker — a sheet titled Insert image (or Insert video) with two segments: Upload from your device and Your files from your library.
  • Sync fields — a web address plus a Sync button, on Latest Posts, Bookshelf and Film Log. Imported entries stay editable, and you can re-sync any time.

How to read the tables in this chapter

The Default column is what a freshly added widget actually has on screen. A handful of toggles fall back to a different value if you ever clear them entirely; where that matters the row says so.

Watch out

Featured In is the one widget that arrives empty on purpose. Instead of names you see Add the publications that featured you. An untouched tile can never claim a press feature you did not get.

Heads up

On a free plan the font dropdown is labelled Font with the name of the Vedette plan in brackets after it. That label understates what you get: the fonts unlock on any paid plan Élégante. Picking a locked one shows Paid feature / Custom fonts need a paid plan. and nothing changes.

Note

The Profile avatar field is labelled Avatar (cute animals & robots), but the built-in choice is a single grey placeholder. Upload your own, or pick one from your Files.

The Map widget is a drawing

It is a stylised illustration, not a real map. Nothing is geocoded and no map tiles are loaded. It is a decorative "I'm based here" card that can link out to Maps if you give it a link.

The Pages widget shows visitors one page

In the editor it lists every page you have made. On your published page a visitor sees only your main page tile, because your other pages are not part of what gets published to them. It also opens in a new tab.

Embed: what you can paste

The Embed link or HTML code box takes either a link or the full embed markup you copy from a platform's own Embed option. A Detected: chip tells you what it recognised: youtube, instagram, tiktok, spotify, vimeo, twitter, or custom.

Watch out

Pasted markup is rebuilt from a safe list of attributes before it is stored. If you copied a decorative wrapper around the embed, that wrapper is discarded — only the embed itself survives.

Video: the editor and the plan caps

Uploading a clip opens a full Edit video sheet with four modes — Trim, Filter, Adjust and Stickers — and a Save button that exports and attaches it. Images, video and files walks through every control.

PlanLongest clipHighest quality
Novice30 s720p
Élégante2 min1080p
Vedette5 min1080p, plus 4K clips up to 2 min
Icône10 min4K

Watch out

After a page reload, Edit video can only change filters, stickers and sound. To re-trim or change quality you have to replace the video. The inspector says as much: Edit adjusts filters, stickers & sound. To re-trim or change quality, replace the video.

Interactive widgets

The eight widgets in the Interactive tab do something when a visitor touches them. Read what a visitor can do further down before you rely on any of them — one of them stores far less than it looks like it does, and one stores more than its own help text admits.

WidgetWhat it doescompact · medium · large
CountdownA live timer to a date, with a message once it passes.2×1 · 2×2 · 4×2

QR codeA scannable code for your page, or any link, in your colours.1×1 · 2×2 · 3×3

A Poll is not a survey

Votes are stored in each visitor's own browser, not on a server. The number under a bar is the starting count you typed plus that one visitor's own vote. You never see a tally, and nobody's vote is visible to anyone else. The widget tells visitors One vote per visitor — you can change it. — in practice that is one vote per browser.

The Subscribe widget's own help text is out of date

The editor still says Demo only — shows a thank-you message. That is wrong. On your published page the address really is submitted and stored for you. Everywhere else — the editor canvas, a preview card, a template thumbnail — the form shows the thank-you and stores nothing.

Watch out

A Countdown with no target date does not show your finished message. It shows 00 00 00 00 forever. Set the date.

Note

The QR code widget always encodes the page owner's address, not the viewer's. Adding a centre emoji quietly raises the code's error correction so it still scans.

Book Me's day strip is decoration

The seven available-day toggles are informational. Nothing is synced to a real calendar, and nothing stops someone booking a day you turned off. The editor says it outright: The day strip is informational — keep it in sync with your real calendar.

Watch out

A Tip Jar with no handle renders its amounts as plain text with no link at all. That is deliberate — a broken link would just reopen a copy of your own page — but it means an unfilled tip jar looks finished and does nothing.

Note

PayPal and Venmo carry the chosen amount into checkout. Ko-fi, BMC and a custom link just open your page.

The Personality widget, end to end

This widget shows one of three things: a five-spoke OCEAN radar you earn by taking a test in the app, a self-picked MBTI type card, or a self-picked Enneagram card. It is free on every plan, including its test.

Switching between the three does not delete anything. Your radar, your four-letter code and your number all live side by side, so switching back brings the old one straight back.

Before you take it

An untaken tile shows a brain icon, the word Personality and Take the test, over a faint radar shape.

Watch out

That faint shape is a sample, not your data — it exists so an empty tile does not read as broken.

Watch out

On the editor canvas the Take the test prompt is not clickable. It is a picture there. Start the test from the widget's Edit Widget sheet, or switch to Preview.

Taking the OCEAN test

The test is presented as five letter-characters — O, C, E, A and N — who interview you in turn. While its code loads you see Loading test….

  1. Open the widget's Edit Widget sheet and tap Take the test. The intro reads The five want to meet you. Tap Let's talk. — or Maybe later. to leave, which changes nothing.
  2. Answer each question by tapping one of five choices: no., not really., in between., kind of., very much. A counter top-right reads 01 / 10.
  3. The character reacts for a beat, then the next question slides in. Tap anywhere to hurry it along.
  4. After ten questions you reach a checkpoint: That's a real result. Take Meet the real you. to see your result now, or the second button to answer ten more.
  5. On the result screen, tap Wear it on your page. to save it into the widget.

The bank holds 30 questions in three rounds of ten, balanced so a result is fair whether you stop at 10, 20 or 30. Your result is labelled quick read at ten, good read at twenty and deep read at thirty. Every trait scores 0 – 100.

  • Keyboard — arrow keys move between the five answers, and Enter or Space commits one. Focus starts on in between. Escape closes the whole test.
  • Going back — a Back button steps to the previous question. It is blocked while a character is mid-reaction.
  • Reduced motion — if your device asks for less animation, the big reveal is skipped and you land straight on the result. The result itself is identical.

The result screen

  • A five-spoke radar with the axis letters O, C, E, A and N.
  • A card headed Your standout trait with that trait's name and description.
  • Five rows, one per trait, each with a percentage bar. Tap a row and its character explains your score — the hint reads Tap a trait — its character will explain you..
  • If you went deeper, a dashed grey outline of your previous result, captioned The dashed shape is your last read — see what moved..
  • Go deeper — 10 more questions. while you are below thirty, Review to walk back through your answers, and Wear it on your page. to keep it.

Watch out

Review takes you to the last question of the round you are in, not the first. Use Back to go further back.

Heads up

Closing the result screen with its exit button discards everything. Only Wear it on your page. stores the result. The checkpoint screen has no exit button at all — use Escape or click outside, and accept that both discard.

Saving it

Saving the result into the widget is not the same as saving your page. From the editor you get Saved to your page! / Your personality radar is now on your grid. — you still have to press Save in the editor. From Preview you get Your personality is on your page!, and the same rule applies.

Taking or clearing the test wipes the widget's other settings

Both Clear and finishing a test replace the widget's whole configuration. Your Background color, your MBTI code, your Enneagram number, your Caption (optional) and your Personality system choice are all dropped at that moment. Set the background colour after you take the test, not before.

A result taken on a live page is never saved

The untaken tile is a real button for anyone who visits your published page. When a visitor finishes, a toast says Your personality is on the page! — but nothing is stored anywhere. It lives in that one browser tab and disappears on refresh. You never see it, and neither does anyone else. That includes you — if you take the test on your own live page, the result is lost. Take it in the editor or in Preview.

MBTI and Enneagram

Set Personality system to MBTI and pick one of sixteen codes under Your type. The card shows the type's emoji, its four-letter code, its persona name, a caption and a strip of the four letters along the bottom. Enneagram works the same way with nine numbered types.

Both cards paint themselves in a fixed colour that belongs to the type's family, which is why the Background color picker disappears when either is selected. Write your own one-liner in Caption (optional), or leave it empty to use the type's built-in line. The two systems share that caption field.

Note

Ties in the OCEAN result always resolve in the fixed order O, C, E, A, N — an exact tie between Openness and Conscientiousness awards Openness.

Note

The result belongs to the widget, not to your account. Two Personality widgets hold two separate results, and applying a template always hands you an untaken tile rather than somebody else's result.

Watch out

This widget has no Rewrite button — there is no prose in it to reword. The Design panel's global text colour and global font also do not reach it, even though the confirmation says all text was updated. The global Widget BG does reach the OCEAN radar.

Layout widgets

The six widgets in the Layout tab shape a page rather than fill it. They are what turns a long grid into something with sections.

Note

Spacer has no settings at all, and no size chips, because all three of its presets are the same. The inspector just says: A spacer adds breathing room — drag its corner on the canvas to resize. It is invisible on your published page and only outlined in the editor.

Watch out

The Section header accent follows the alignment: centred titles get an underline, left-aligned titles get a bar. Change Align and the accent changes with it until you set one yourself.

Explore widgets

The twelve widgets behind the compass icon are toys, games and page furniture. Most of them do something when a visitor taps them. Three never react to a tap at all — Sticker, Lava Lamp and Decoration — and only the first two are pure decoration. A Decoration can now also print a clock, a quote, a ticker, an icon or a photo of yours, so it is dressing that sometimes has something to say. It still has nothing to tap.

Lava LampAn ambient colour field that slowly breathes.1×1 · 2×2 · 4×2
CelebrateA button that bursts confetti when tapped.1×1 · 2×1 · 2×2

Watch out

Lava Lamp has no Background color control at all — its own artwork is the background, and it exposes Color AColor C instead. Video and Pages have no background picker either. Decoration used to be on that list and is not any more: its Paper is a real background colour, and — like Sticker's — it can be taken away entirely. The control for that is the Transparent (sticker) toggle in the Ink section, not the picker's clear button: clearing the picker puts the off-white stock back, the toggle removes the sheet and leaves the print sitting straight on your page.

Watch out

The heads-odds slider on Coin Flip means the coin can be as rigged as you like, anywhere from 0 to 100 %. Nothing on the page tells a visitor.

Note

The Sticker widget has a full-width button reading None — transparent, floats on the page. It clears the background so the doodle sits directly on your page.

Note

Pocket Pet — the older pet that used the five OCEAN characters — is no longer offered here, but it still works on pages that already have one. Its settings are Character, Name, Show name tag, Tap particle, Talkativeness (it speaks every 3rd, 5th or 10th tap), Sleeps at night (10pm–6am) and Background color.

The Decoration widget, end to end

A risograph is a duplicator that prints one colour of ink at a time, each through its own screen. The sheet comes out with the layers very slightly out of line, the ink half-transparent where two colours cross, and every flat area broken into a screen of dots. The Decoration widget is that machine. You choose a motif to print, the inks to print it in, and how badly the press misbehaves.

It is added at 1×1 and stretches to 4×1. A fresh one is a full-bleed halftone in the Fluoro inks on off-white paper, and it never reacts to a tap.

The 38 motifs, in four groups

  • Fields — 12 full-bleed pattern beds, the wallpaper of the set: Halftone, Halftone ramp, Stripes, Chevron, Checker, Target, Sunburst, Waves, Crosshatch, Speckle, Crop marks and Press grid.
  • Shapes — 11 single figures printed into the middle of the cell: Arches, Discs, Blob, Star, Daisy, Sun, Bolt, Squiggle, Triangles, Heart and Doodles.
  • Furniture — 7 edge treatments, for joining two widgets rather than filling one: Fat rule, Torn edge, Ticker band, Tape, Ribbon, Scallop and Stitch.
  • Content — 8 motifs that carry something of yours: Quote, Clock face, Clock digits, Icon disc, Duotone, Ticker, Badge and Big number. Picking one of these opens a Content section with the one field it needs — a line of text, a timezone, an icon or a photo. The other 30 motifs show no such section at all.

Note

The eight styles this widget used to have — tape, ribbon, blob, scallop, checker, stripes, stitch and doodle — are all still here, redrawn in the new style under the same names. A page you published before this change keeps its decoration, and keeps the two colours you chose for it: the old main colour is read as the first ink and the old accent as the second.

The inks

Every motif draws from the same four colours, and they overprint the way real ink does: where two inks cross they multiply into a third. That is why a pink-and-blue halftone has purple in it that you never picked, and it is most of what makes the widget look printed rather than drawn.

  • Three inks — the three plates. Not every motif uses all three; a field usually prints in two and keeps the third for its accents.
  • Paper — the stock underneath. This is a real background colour, and it can be taken away entirely with the Transparent (sticker) toggle above it: with no paper the widget's background is transparent and the print sits directly on your page, the same trick Sticker does. The Paper picker disappears while that toggle is on, and turning it back off returns the stock you had rather than the factory off-white.
  • Five palettes — ready-mixed: one tap sets all three inks and the paper at once, except while Transparent (sticker) is on, where it sets the inks and leaves the sheet off. Fluoro is pink, blue and yellow on off-white. Sunset swaps in orange and teal. Garden is green, violet and coral on a warmer stock. Press is blue and near-black on plain white. Night stock is the dark one: yellow, pink and mint on near-black.

The press

Four sliders control how the machine behaves rather than what it prints.

  • Misregistration, 0 – 10 px — how far the plates sit out of line. Zero is a clean digital print; the shipped 3 px is the wobble that makes it read as riso at all.
  • Halftone, 4 – 16 px — one cell of the dot screen. Small is a fine newsprint screen, large is a comic-book dot you can count.
  • Coverage, 30 – 100 % — how much ink goes down. A riso drum never lays a true solid, so even at the top some paper shows through.
  • Grain — paper tooth, read out as a percentage. It ships at off because it is the most expensive thing in the widget to draw. Turn it up on the one decoration you want to look hand-pulled, not on all of them.

Placement

Four more controls move the finished print inside its cell without changing the print itself: Scale from 0.40 to 1.60 ×, Rotation from −45 to 45 °, Opacity from 20 % up to a solid 100 %, and a Die cut toggle that trims the print with a cut edge instead of squaring it off to the cell. Opacity stops at 20 % rather than 0 on purpose: an invisible widget is indistinguishable from a broken one. Die cut starts off, and it is the one worth reaching for after you clear the paper: on a sheet the motif is printed into the page, but floating bare it wants the white outline that makes the eye read it as a sticker stuck on top.

Motion

29 of the 38 motifs move. The other nine are simply prints and hide both motion controls: Crop marks, Press grid, Fat rule, Torn edge, Tape, Scallop, Quote, Duotone and Big number.

  • Motion — five styles. Still holds the print still, Drift floats it, March walks the pattern steadily in one direction, Pulse breathes it in and out, and Spin turns it.
  • Speed — three, greyed out while Motion is Still. Slow is a nine-second loop, normal is six seconds, fast is 3.6. One motif is often several moving layers, and they all take the same loop length, so a marching stripe and the dot screen over it never drift apart.

Note

Every motif is drawn so its first frame is already the finished picture. That is what makes Still a real setting instead of a broken one: it pauses the press at a composed frame rather than taking the animation away and leaving whatever was underneath. The nine motifs that never move say so in place of the two controls, rather than showing you buttons that do nothing.

It obeys the reader, not you

If a visitor's phone or computer is set to reduce motion, every Decoration on your page pauses at that same first frame. The picture is identical — it simply stops. You do not have to do anything for this, and there is no setting that overrides it.

Watch out

The two clock motifs read the visitor's clock unless you give them a timezone — the opposite of My Time, whose whole point is showing yours. If you want a decoration that says what time it is where you are, set the timezone. Both clocks also arrive posed at 10:10 for the instant before the page comes alive — the same pose every watch in every advert wears — so a screenshot taken too early is showing you a display model, not a stopped clock.

Custom widgets from the marketplace

A custom widget is one somebody built in the Widget Builder and published. It is a fixed arrangement of text, images, icons, buttons, shapes, embeds, lists, progress bars, badges and dividers — never code you have to trust.

You get one from the Store tab of the Add a widget popup, which lists the free ones, or by installing it from the marketplace. The marketplace covers buying and owning.

What you can change

Everything, and nothing more. The creator decides which parts of their widget are editable when they publish it, and your Edit Widget sheet builds one control per exposed part, under a chip showing the widget's name.

  • A toggle for anything the creator exposed as on-or-off.
  • A colour picker for anything exposed as a colour.
  • An insert-or-replace image field for images.
  • A text box for everything else, with a web-address hint on link fields.

If the creator exposed nothing, the sheet says This widget has no editable options..

Watch out

A custom widget has no size chips. Its size was declared by its creator, it is added at that size, and dragging its corner will not shrink it below that. Resize the space around it instead.

Note

If a widget's definition ever arrives damaged, or built against a newer version than your app understands, the tile shows the words Custom widget rather than guessing at a layout.

What a visitor can actually do

A widget is a picture in some places and a control in others. It is live on your published page and in the editor's Preview. On the editor canvas, in feed cards, in discover tiles and in template galleries, taps select or scroll instead — timers show a single frame and embeds show a placeholder.

You cannot test most widgets on the editor canvas

Tapping a poll, a coin or a personality tile in the editor does nothing, by design. Open Preview or your public link to try it the way a visitor will. Four widgets are the exception and respond on the canvas as well — Testimonials, FAQ, Copy code and Music.

Three rules that apply everywhere

  • Everything pauses off screen — rotations, clocks, countdowns, auto-advancing galleries, embeds and the music preview all stop when they scroll away, and restart when they come back.
  • Reduced motion is honoured — if a visitor's device asks for less animation, galleries stop auto-advancing, the before-and-after nudge is suppressed, confetti becomes a single gentle pulse, the 8-ball skips its shake and countdown digits stop flipping.
  • An unfilled link is not tappable — a widget whose address you never filled in renders as plain text rather than a link. It will never open a broken tab.

Widget by widget

WidgetWhat a visitor can do
3 ThingsTap to reveal the next fact. When all are out, a replay button hides them again. Enter and Space work too. Hidden facts are never in the page's text, so they cannot be peeked at.
Obsessed WithTap to jump to the next item. Hovering pauses the rotation.
TestimonialsTap a dot under the quote to jump to it. The rotation keeps running regardless — there is no pause.
Photo GalleryIn carousel: previous and next arrows, plus tap-to-advance. In stack: tap to cycle, with a counter. In grid: nothing — it is a static crop of the first four photos.
Before / AfterDrag the round grip across the images, or focus it and use the arrow keys, four per cent per press.
VideoTap the speaker button, or anywhere on the clip, to turn sound on.
MusicTap the round button for a 30-second preview, or use the embedded player if you pasted a link.
PollTap an option to vote, and tap another to change it.
Copy codeTap Copy — or Reveal if it is blurred, which copies at the same time.
FAQTap a question to open it, tap it again to close. One answer open at a time.
SubscribeType an email address and submit it.
ContactTap Email to open the mail app, Call to dial, Save to download a contact file.
PagesTap a tile to open that page in a new tab — but a visitor only ever sees your main page.
PersonalityTap an untaken tile to take the OCEAN test. Nothing is saved. A taken tile is just a chart.
Reaction Test, Magic 8-Ball, Coin Flip, Mood Ring, CelebrateAll playable by tap, and all playable from the keyboard with Enter or Space.
Bubble WrapTap a bubble to pop it, or hold and drag across the sheet to pop a row. Pointer only — there is no keyboard path.
Pet BuddyTap it to make it bounce; every third tap it says something. Tap the cookie button to feed it. Pointer only, except the cookie button.
Passport and Week in EmojiPress feedback only. Stamps and emoji squash under a finger; nothing changes.
Countdown, Streak, My Time, QR codeNothing to tap. They tick, climb or wait to be scanned.
Sticker, Decoration, Lava LampNothing at all. They are ambient by design and ignore taps completely.

The details worth knowing

  • Video sound is page-wide — unmuting one clip unmutes every clip, and the choice is remembered across pages and reloads. If you baked the audio out when you exported the clip, there is no sound button and tapping does nothing.
  • Video plays sparingly — a clip only plays when it is entirely on screen, at most two at a time on a phone and four on a desktop. Extra clips wait on their poster frame.
  • The music embed restarts — a Spotify or YouTube player that scrolls out of range is unloaded, which is the only way to stop a third-party player. Scrolling back starts it from the beginning.
  • Copy can fail silently — if a browser blocks clipboard access nothing happens at all, and the button never says Copied. There is no fallback.
  • The FAQ opens on its first question — that is deliberate, so the accordion does not read as an empty stack of bars.
  • Contact's Save button — appears when there is a real name or an email or a phone number. A card with only a job title has nothing to save, so no button.
  • Subscribe collects for the page owner — never for whoever is signed in. Duplicate addresses are accepted quietly, and the response never reveals whether an address was already on the list.
  • Small tiles hide their own controls — most widgets drop labels, hints and buttons on a very small tile. A one-cell gallery is a photo with no arrows; a one-cell before-and-after has no grip; a one-cell pet can be tapped but not fed. If a control seems missing, make the widget bigger.

Empty states you can publish by accident

Some widgets tell a visitor they are unfinished. Others quietly substitute an example, which a visitor cannot tell apart from real content. The second group is the one to watch.

Widgets that admit they are empty

WidgetWhat a visitor sees
Featured InYour kicker, then Add the publications that featured you.
ContactContact card and Add your name and a way to reach you.
EmbedEmbed and Paste a link or embed code.
MusicMusic and Paste a Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube or Apple Music link.

PersonalityPersonality and Take the test over a sample radar.
Social Link, Stat styleA grey dash, deliberately, rather than an invented follower count.
SpacerNothing. It is outlined in the editor and invisible on your page.
A custom widget with a damaged definitionCustom widget and nothing else.

Widgets that invent something instead

These publish as if they were real

Empty these widgets out and they do not go blank — they fall back to an example. A visitor has no way to tell.

Note

A few widgets have no fallback and simply render whatever you gave them, including nothing: Text, Quote, Now / Status, Rating Badge — which paints 0.0 and five empty stars — and Poll, which draws the question over blank space if you removed every option.

What a template leaves behind

Applying a template keeps its layout and resets its identity, media and ratings, so you are never publishing someone else's claims. That leaves a few tiles deliberately blank rather than plausible: a rating of 0.0, a product with a bare currency symbol, unfilled star outlines on testimonials, unnamed poll bars at 0 %, labelled but empty stat columns, and an FAQ whose rows keep their shape but have no words in them. A personality tile always arrives untaken.

What ships if you never touch a widget

Every widget arrives with content already in it, so it never looks broken while you are building. That content is invented. If you add a tile and publish without opening it, this is what a visitor reads — and several of these read as claims about you.

The four to check before you publish

Contact ships a working email address that is not yours. Copy code ships a discount code that looks live. Product and Rating Badge ship five-star ratings and review counts. Those four are the ones that mislead a real visitor.

Tip

Some seeds are deliberately safe. Featured In ships empty. Social Link, Button, Link Row, Book Me and Button group ship a placeholder address that is not a working link, so an unfilled tile is never clickable. Tip Jar ships without a handle, so its amounts do nothing.

When something goes wrong

Adding, resizing and deleting

  • Phone mode is full or Desktop mode is full / No free cell in phone mode. Move or resize widgets to make room. — a widget has to fit in both canvases. Move or shrink something, or make the widget you are adding land somewhere else.
  • No space to resize / No free space to grow this widget — even after rearranging. Move or remove a widget to make room. — the grid tried to push its neighbours aside and could not. Delete or shrink a neighbour first.
  • Delete this widget? / You've shared this widget as a post. Deleting it will also delete that post card. This can't be undone. — confirming with Delete both removes the post too. There is no undo for the post.

The Store tab

  • Couldn't load the store — tap to retry. — the list failed to fetch. Tap it to try again.
  • No shared widgets yet. — there are no free community widgets to show. Nothing is wrong.
  • Couldn't add that widget. — the install failed. Try again; if it keeps failing, the listing itself may be broken.
  • Paid feature / Shape masks need a paid plan. — masks need Élégante or above. The server drops a mask from a free account even if one is somehow set.
  • Paid feature / Custom fonts need a paid plan. — every font except Default needs Élégante or above, whatever the dropdown's label says.
  • Publishing needs a paid plan. — listing a widget in the marketplace needs Élégante or above.
  • Couldn't publish that widget. — the listing was refused for some other reason. Check the title is filled in and try again.

AI

  • That's today's rewrites. — you have used the free rewrites your plan allows for now. They come back on their own over the following day, gradually rather than all at once.
  • One rewrite at a time — try again in a moment. — rewriting too fast is briefly limited. Wait a moment.
  • That came back the same. Try saying it another way. — the model made no change. Be more specific about what you want.
  • Couldn't rewrite that. — the request failed outright. Try again.
  • Write something first — the Assist panel needs text in the field before it can improve it.

Live data and syncing

  • Not available yet / This platform's API key isn't set up on the server. — that platform's connector is not configured. Type the number by hand instead; nothing you can change will fix it.
  • Couldn't fetch live data — the platform answered with an error. Check the handle is exactly right.
  • TikTok account linking isn't enabled on this server yet. Numbers stay manual for now. — account linking is unavailable. Type the numbers by hand.
  • Sync failed — with the reason attached, usually that the feed had no entries. Check the address is a feed, not a home page.
  • Fetch failed — the same, for a stat's live source.

Media

  • Pick a video file. — the Video widget only takes video. Use Image for photos.
  • Couldn't save that video — try again. — the export failed. Try again, or with a shorter clip.
  • Add videos from the video widget's editor. — you picked a video inside an image field. Use the Video widget instead.
  • Upload failed — with the server's reason where there is one. Common causes are a file type that is not allowed, a file over your plan's per-file cap, or your storage being full.

Music

  • No results / Try the song + artist name. — the catalogue found nothing. Add the artist.
  • Search failed — the search itself errored. Try again.
  • Couldn't fetch title — the title could not be read from the link. Type it in.

What visitors see when something fails

  • Couldn't subscribe. Try again. — the signup did not go through. The form stays on screen so the address is not lost.
